working hard...

or hardly working?



We have been working on the landscaping in front of our house the past couple days...Carter absolutely loooooves being outside with us! At night he is so dirty from playing outside all day!

After we planted everything it was time to put down mulch. Carter grabbed a shovel and put down 2 scoops before he sat down and said "I'm taking a break!"

Bowling 101...

We took the kiddos bowling for the first time last night! We bowled one slow moving game! Every time they rolled it took forever to get to the pins ;) It was fun though and something different to do!

Sydney drew Lindsey a picture and mailed it to her about a week ago. Today Sydney got a surprise of her own from Lindsey...
I showed it to her and she said "who's birthday is it?" I said, well who's name is on the front? She grinned and said SYDNEY!!


Stickers...yeah!!


Then I read the letter that told about the worms inside the envelope...Sydney peeked back in there and said "ohhhh, there is a worm!" and she carefully pulled it out (such a girl)


Then we called Carter to come over and see it...I put it on his head and got this (such a boy!)



We got a good laugh and Sydney wanted to do it too...



Thanks Lindsey! Sydney named the worm Wormy and he has been quite entertaining today ;)

time to garden!

Dad came to plow the garden for us yesterday...Carter had the best time watching grandaddy "workin' hard!"



Today he came back to finish up and take the tractor home.

Kevin and I got some potatoes and peas planted before the rain hits tomorrow. Sydney and Carter were eager to help too (= dirty)! It was fun though and I can't wait for them to see everything start growing (hopefully!) Once it warms up, we'll get everything else planted.

he's on a roll...

Carter is on a winning streak here lately...
Last week at the library he won a drawing for a Dr. Suess book and Cat in the Hat stuffed animal!

Then, this weekend we went to Phillips Equipment for John Deere day! We ate lunch there and Carter and Sydney got to sit on a few tractors, which they loved! They had several door prizes & we each entered our name for a chance to win!

Sure enough...yesterday we had a message for Carter Phillips saying that he won a doorprize! Lucky thing!

We went to pick it up today...it's a "Haying Set" with a tractor and several attachments! He was pretty proud...he practically strutted out of the store!

A few months ago he won this huge John Deere doorprize!

I'm taking him to buy me a lottery ticket next :)

an interesting morning...

About 8:30 this morning we were all dressed and ready to head out to preschool. I had everything we needed to take with us sitting on the bench in the foyer...lunchbox, coat, purse & a bag of stuff to return.

I went in the bedroom to put my shoes on and Sydney comes in and says "Carter has made a mess! There's food all over the floor!"

This can't be good. About that time, Carter comes around the corner stuffing a sandwich in his mouth. Oh no...

I look in the living room and there is Sydney's lunch spilled all over the floor! Goldfish, applesauce, string cheese, grapes... (he ate the sandwich)

Awesome.

It was time to go and here I am cleaning up a mess and making another lunch. We weren't late but it was certainly an interesting start to the day!

how high can you jump?

We had another warm day today...we got outside this morning and had fun playing on the playground. They started going down the slide on their bellies saying they were Superman!

Then we had a little contest to see who could jump the highest...

Carter might have heaved himself about an inch off the ground!!

One year!

I started my blog a year ago today! That's hard to believe! My first post is here. But since that's kinda boring, click here for the next one.

This has been really fun and a great way for me to remember my days and the funny little things that happen :) I found a great way to have my blog printed as a book...maybe in my "spare time" I can get that finished!

The weather was perfect this weekend...close to 80! Sydney and I got outside and washed the car! She had a blast spraying water everywhere! We actually had a pretty good little system going...she rinsed, I washed and she rinsed again! We were finished in no time :)

Father's Night

Last night, Sydney and Kevin went to preschool for Father's Night. This was a night just for the kids with their dads! They started off the night by making ice cream sundae's together (yum!) Then they went to each classroom which was set up with different things to do. Sydney said her favorite rooms were the space ship, puzzles and sand. Then they made each other a tie and did some face painting!


Here they are before they left....she was super excited about going! She talked nonstop about it all afternoon! Then he could barely eat dinner...she was pulling at his arm saying, Let's goooooo daddy! And she informed Carter "Me and Daddy are going to preschool but you get to stay home with mama!"


And their creative face painting...she is a cat and he is a dinosaur!


Sydney also drew a picture of Kevin which he brought home! All the pictures from her class were hanging on the wall and he had to guess which one was him! He didn't pick her's first! Who knew he was 25 feet tall and 60 years old?


Carter and I had fun that night too...we had been to the library earlier that day so we sat and read a bunch of books together! He loves that!

anyone need a handyman?

I was cleaning up the dishes last night when our garbage disposal died! I never knew how much I liked having that until it was gone!! Kevin flipped the switch and confirmed it was broken (thanks) and told Carter to get his tools and fix it!

So we finished cleaning up and left the kitchen. A few minutes later I walked by and noticed one of the toy cubes in the kitchen floor. I peeked in and Carter had hauled his "tool kit" into the kitchen and was working under the sink!

"That's the sink Carter...the garbage disposal is on the other side!"


"that's better!"


"My work here is done!"


So, it's not quite fixed yet...hopefully soon!

mr. snowman

We got outside again today...we did a little sledding but I really wanted to build a good snowman! Sydney and Carter helped me for about 5 minutes then were ready to go do their own thing...so I got stuck rolling snow. It was fun though :)

Sydney and Carter were a little more interested once he started getting bigger. They came over to help stick the arms, nose and buttons on! He's a lot better then the one we made last month!

snow day!

Well, they got it right! We got 8 inches of snow last night! I let out a little squeal when I got up this morning...and it was still coming down! I really wasn't expecting much because the ground wasn't even white when I went to bed last night. So this was a nice surprise :)




Emma had the best time today! The snow came up to her belly and she hopped around the yard all day long!!



The slide was slick!!



We had an awesome time sleigh riding! (Emma had fun chasing us!)






Then we ventured over in the field and went down the steeeeep hill! We had some major wipeouts but everyone always came up laughing!!





Emma and I went down a couple times too :)


We should all sleep good tonight! Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow :)
