it's friday!!

I thought today would be perfect to head to the park for a change! So we packed a lunch, loaded up the bikes and headed out! It was getting warm but they had a blast playing on the playground! It wasn't long before they were ready to eat (in fact, they are always ready to eat)!!

After that I pulled the bikes out for them to ride! They have the perfect place to ride...nice and flat for a bit then lots of shade! Off they went...

Sydney left Carter in the dust...

but they eventually got back together!

Time for a quick break in the shade :)

Carter didn't like riding over the bride...it was too bumpy!

By now, everyone was hot and tired! For a little encouragement to get to the car, I said they could get in the pool when we got home! That got their little legs pumping!!

Even though it was hot outside, the water was coooooold!! They had a blast though!

Carter's "field trip"...

Coming home last Friday I noticed a field full of round hay bales and a couple John Deere tractors parked across the road. So after dinner I decided to take Carter on a little "field trip". He didn't know where we were going but was excited to have a little outing of his own.

When we pulled up and started walking through the field I had to pick his jaw up off the ground. He's never been next to a hay bale and probably didn't realize how large they are!

Once we got to the next stop he was running full blast to get next to that John Deere! He quickly informed me that it had a baler attached! He loved every minute we were there!

last day of preschool...

Sydney graduated preschool last Thursday (sob!)
They had a little ceremony to sing a few songs and get their diploma.

The day ended with a family picnic outside...the weather was beautiful! After we ate, the kiddos got the play on the playground!

I didn't think Sydney quite understood that was her last day, even though I've been reminding her the past week school was almost over.
So on the way home I told Sydney again that was her last day of preschool.
"You mean I don't get to go back?" she asked.
"No, you won't go back anymore."
She pumped her fist in the air and said "yessssss!"
That kinda took me by surprise because she loooooved going to school! "So you're not sad you won't be going back?"
"Nope, I'm ready for kindergarten!!"

Spoken like a true 4 year old.

Home with her diploma :)

catching up...

Sydney had her first t-ball practice/game last Saturday. We practice for 30 minutes then play a 1 inning game (everyone hits). That's about all they can handle...they are 3, 4 and 5 year olds! It was fun though :)

Now up to bat...#6 Sydney Phillips (ha ha)

after the game!

When we got home, we got ready for the St. Jude bike-a-thon at church. Kevin and the RA's sponsored it, so we got there early. The big kids rode in circles around the parking lot. I had fun watching the little ones ride around in the middle on their mini bikes and tricycles :) Afterwards, we had a hot dog dinner and lots of desserts. The kids raised $1,700 which is amazing!!

wedding day!

Saturday could not have been more beautiful for Brittany and Burke's wedding! It was an absolutely gorgeous spring day and her wedding was perfect! I have lots of pictures to go through but was anxious to see these...they were taken about 5 minutes before she walked down the "aisle".

Mama marched over there and grabbed her little kitten by the nape of his neck and drug him back "home"! They stayed put after that!!

bedtime...

After bathtime tonight I told Sydney and Carter to hop in the bed and look at books a few minutes before it was time to go to sleep. They both got in Carter's bed and when I peeped in, she was reading a book to him. :)

random things...

Sydney brought this guy home from preschool yesterday. At the Mother's Day tea last Thursday it was just a cup of dirt...man did that grow fast!! She calls him "grassy head"

The peonies in the yard are starting to bloom. I could stand there all day with my nose stuck in one...they smell sooooo good! There are pink ones too that should be blooming in the next day or so...ahhhhhh.

And I love the color of these...so bright and happy looking!

I asked for a goofy face...no problem!

Kevin and Sydney went shopping on Saturday for mother's day and she insisted on getting me a pair of purple flip flops from Old Navy! She was so excited and ended up giving them to me when she got home! I've got a necklace on the way too that should be pretty cool...can't wait to see it!

Mother's Day Tea

We had a Mother's Day Tea at preschool today! Sydney has been looking forward to this for awhile because they made us a little book and learned 2 new songs!

It lasted about 30 minutes and turned out really cute. All the kids served their moms a little lunch of cake, pretzels and pink lemonade =) All the moms had a portrait drawn by the kids too along with a little questionnaire...Sydney had this to say about me:

My mom is 49 years old. Her hair is brown. Her eyes are green. My mom is 49 feet tall. I like to help my mom clean up her books. When I am in school my mom is reading a book. Her favorite food is hamburgers. My mom often says she likes me. I love my mom because she sends me to WalMart every day.

Too cute!

the phone lines are hot!

Today while I was taking a shower, Julie called. Carter decided to answer the phone by himself (for the first time) and talk to her for awhile! (I found this out about 30 minutes later when she called back!)

After that conversation was over, Sydney got the phone and called mom. She knows the number now and loves chatting on the phone. She even let Carter talk some too.

I was quite surprised to check in and find them yapping on the phone!! Mom said Carter kept accidentally hanging up so they called her back like 5 times! I see Sydney is quite efficient with the phone now!

Maybe I'll let them answer the phone the next time a telemarketer calls :) Haha!

This is from the other day...on the phone again ;)

not the day i expected!

whew! Lots going on today that I didn't expect! I planned to drop Sydney off with mom for the day, take Carter to storytime, come home and get some stuff done around the house while Carter napped.

Change of plans!

Carter slept really bad Sunday night...kept waking up saying his mouth hurt (??) Needless to say, Monday morning required some coffee to fully wake up!! :) Carter was moody but I chalked it up to not much sleep. I wanted to take him to the last storytime for the spring so we got dressed and off we went. Once Carter got going he was fine.

Long story short...he was having major mood swings and he started complaining that his ear was hurting. We ended up at the dr. and he had an outer ear infection that most likely came from an inner ear infection. Got his medicine and finally got home at 5:30!

I was walking to the house and Abby came trotting up to me skinny as a rail! The day before she was enormous and could barely find the energy to walk...she finally had her kittens!

Abby is a happy little mama...she has 5 little black kittens and is constantly purring. Sydney was all smiles too and had lots of questions about her babies. She even wanted to go buy 5 bowls for them for their food!

I hope Abby enjoys this while it lasts because we will be getting her "fixed" as soon as we can!! They're cute and all but we didn't really want any more animals ;)
