my little housekeeper

Ok, so I can barely bend over these days which means someone else needs to pick up the slack on housekeeping. While I was at the dr. today, mom taught Carter how to use the vaccum cleaner. He loves it!! He will make an excellent husband one day ;)

Even though I am 37 weeks along, the dr. checked me today and I have made zero progress as far as dialating. That is not what I wanted to hear. Typical I guess, but still not what I wanted to hear. Come on already...

t.ball

Sydney had her first t-ball practice tonight! When I picked her up from school, one of the helpers in the car line opened the door for her and told me that she sure was looking forward to t-ball practice that afternoon!

They practiced throwing, catching, then catching a ground ball and throwing it. The coach seems really nice...he has coached before and knows what he's doing. The kids really liked him and all seemed to have a good time...he said all he wants them to do is have fun. Sounds good to me! :)

bookworm...

Sydney has absolutely loved learning how to read since school has started. She brings home a different book from school just about every day for "homework". She has to take it back the next day and read it to her teacher for a "grade". So when we get home in the afternoon she eagerly gets her book out and reads it several times then again before going to school in the morning. Some of the books she's read are Lucky Bear, Circus Fun, Cinderella at the Ball, Not I Not I, Whose Mouse are You and Follow the Monsters.

I have really seen a big change over the past few months...she sounds out bigger words now like wherever or sometimes. She is quite proud of herself ;)

I started sending notes in her lunchbox about a month ago too :) I think it's fun and she likes getting little messages from me during the day! Better do it now before it gets "embarrassing" ha ha!!

please stop growing up...

They are getting too big....

Sydney is anxious to meet her little sister...she said, "you just need to get that baby out of your belly!!"
I could not agree more!!

The other day Carter told me "you're my best girl, mama." So cute :)

Sydney's day off...

The weather this week has been soooo nice...upper 60's to 70's!! I thought I would surprise Sydney today and let her stay home from school...seems like the weekends are always crazy so I wanted a day with no other plans.

I told her on Thursday afternoon and she couldn't believe it! This was her "special day" and she could do whatever she wanted (reasonably).

She really wanted to go to the park...she said, you know, I went there when I was four and it was so fun! So that was our first stop...they loved it!

After lunch at McD's she wanted to go to Target to pick something out for her baby sister. So we made a quick trip there and she picked out an orange dress and a stuffed sheep...Carter picked out a pacifier for her.

Then we went home to play outside the rest of the afternoon. Sydney practiced riding her bike some more and Carter alternated between riding the gator and digging in the dirt with his dump trucks ;)

We had a great day hanging out...figured we should get a fun day in before the new little miss gets here. We might even do it again another day ;)

random pictures...

A few pictures from yesterday...

35 weeks...the days are long but the weeks go quick. Does that make any sense???

So I can't really see my feet when I look down...I had to bend a little to take this. Otherwise it would be all shirt!! ;)

When we got home that afternoon Carter raked pine needles for awhile...then he put them in his wheelbarrow and dumped them in the woods. He loves working in the yard!

Sydney learned about St. Patrick's day at school and came home looking for clover! She and Carter picked a handful for me!

looong night...

So Carter went to bed Tuesday night and woke up about an hour later crying...he said his cheek hurt (?) He was so pitiful so he sat with Kevin and I on the couch for awhile. I gave him some Tylenol and we looked in his mouth but didn't see anything. He finally calmed down and conked out again...

We put him in our bed and he slept for awhile but woke up just bawling saying his cheek hurt. We couldn't find anything wrong and Kevin finally decided it must be his ear. He took him in the living room to watch a movie and hopefully help him fall asleep. They ended up in there all night long...it was a long night for Kevin.

So the next morning Carter was hurting again so I gave him some Tylenol and told him he would be going to the dr. I asked him what hurt and he pointed to his ear. (hmmmm...) We got dressed and took Sydney to school and in the car on the way home Carter asked...do you know the dr.'s phone number? I said yes and he said, well do you have your phone with you? I said no Carter, let's call when we get home.

So we walked in the door and Carter marched over to the phone base, picked up the phone and said, what is the phone number? I want to call the dr. He stood right beside me while I called and made an appt. (This is the probably the 3rd or 4th time he's been sick and asked me to call the dr...such an old man!!)

I had a OB appt. that morning so his appt. was in the afternoon. Funny thing is, he was fine all day. Never complained again...we got to the dr. and the nurse said, so are you sick today Carter? He said, No!! Great, I thought! (He weighed 45 3/4 lbs)

Photobucket
He looks fine to me!!

The dr. came in checked his ears and he has a double ear infection. No wonder he had such a bad night. He also said usually ear infections quit hurting after 18 hrs. which is why he seemed fine all day. Very strange. So a prescription later and we're on our way!

I was so exhausted that night...my day was something like this:
not a great night of sleep with Carter up...
got up & took Sydney to school
came home
my dr. appt at 10:30
came home around 12
took Carter to the dr. at 2
stopped and got prescription on the way home
got home around 3:30
left at 4:45 to pick sydney up from girl scouts
came home
fixed dinner, ate and collapsed.

I spy

Carter loves to play I Spy. He used to play the right way but he's made up new rules now...Here's how a typical game goes these days:

We're usually in the car driving too, which makes it really interesting...

Carter: I spy something blue.
Me: I guess everything blue in the car then as we're driving along guess a few things outside too. He says no to everything. I finally say, OK, I give up, what is it?
Carter: Guess that (insert random blue thing on the side of the road we are passing 5 minutes after the game starts).
Me: I guess it.
Carter: YES!! Good job mama!!!

or...

In the car again...

Carter: I spy something black.
Me: I guess the 2 black things that I see and he says no to both. I say, OK, I give up, I don't see anything else black. What is it?
Carter: Hmmm...I don't see anything black either.

And then there's the time he wanted to play on the way home one night...it was pitch black outside. Crazy boy!

Spring weather and bike riding!

It was finally a nice day outside! That figures since Kevin had to work this weekend ;)

After we got home from church, Sydney brought her bike up to the patio. One of the training wheels was loose and she wanted me to fix it. I ended up just taking the training wheels off and we went out in the yard to practice. I held on while she pedaled around...within 5 or 10 minutes she was riding around a little by herself!

Her chain popped off a bit later so we waited for Kevin to get home to fix it. Then it was his turn to get her started again! She was so proud to do it by herself!! It's so funny because last fall she would have a fit if you even mentioned riding without training wheels..."I can't do that, I'll fall!!" But once she decided to give it a try, it didn't take long at all!!

The little daisy!

Sydney's girl scout troop had a ceremony at their last meeting and got the patches and pins for their uniform. It was lots of fun sewing them on! It does look pretty cute...they have to earn the rest of the petals though!

She had another meeting today...here's her new and improved tunic!

A sheep birthday...

Someone at church gave Sydney a sheep beanie baby on Sunday because she knew that she liked them! I thought that was very sweet and Sydney was one happy little girl!

When we got home I was reading the tag...her name is "Ewey" and her birthday is March 1st. When I told Sydney that she immediately started planning...she wanted me to make a cake and wrap some presents!

OK, a cake I can do. Presents might be a little much for a stuffed animal ;)

So when Sydney got home from school we made a cake and after dinner she and Carter sang happy birthday! Kevin and I were laughing, but hey, it was a good excuse for cake! :)
