Carter's new 'do

I took Carter today for a haircut...I wanted it short since summer is almost here! I came prepared with a bag full of books and things to look at thinking he might get squirmy while he got his hair cut.

He surprised me though...he sat on my lap for 15 minutes while she cut and did SO GOOD! He looked at one of his tractor books most of the time! She said it was very unusual :) I couldn't believe it either...guess you just never know what to expect!

Sydney was with us and she was well behaved too...she found a little stool by the window and looked outside for a few minutes then came to watch Carter! She grinned when she saw his wet hair sticking up and said "He's got crazy hair!" She likes his short haircut!

Just having some fun...

Sydney wasn't in the best mood tonight so Carter and I got to hang out some :) We were just walking around the yard checking things out. I can't decide if I like these in color or black and white better.







I am so glad I got this one...it is classic Carter! He does this right before he bursts into tears! (He hit me with the bubble wand and I turned around and fussed at him)



Not to worry, he was smiling again in minutes!!

Breaking in the pool...

and Kevin did it with a bang!





I even got in but MAN was it cold! I don't know how I did it because I am such a wimp when it comes to being cold. It was just really warm outside and I was determined to get in, so I did!

Sydney went to Grandma's house after chuch and when she came home she was ready to jump in too! Her teeth were chattering after a few minutes but she loved every second of it...frozen or not!




I think we're really gonna like the pool!! :)

Cheap entertainment...

"Mawn mowwa...Mawn mowwa" (translation: Lawn Mower)
That's what Carter was saying this afternoon while Kevin mowed the grass! So when he was done he took Sydney and Carter on a little joy ride around the yard! They could not have been any happier! At least they are easily entertained :)

The new improved playroom!

I finally finished painting the playroom today! I am so glad that is over with...I could not stand the colors that were in there! Anyway, I've got some ideas of things to put on the wall and I need to find a curtain...hopefully it will be completely finished soon!!

The black wall here is actually chalkboard paint! It hasn't completely dried yet but we can't wait to try it out :)


I love all the shelves in this closet...wonder how long it will stay this neat? ;)

To the doctor...

Called the doctor this morning about Carter. He has no other symptoms other then a fever, not much energy and not much of an appetite. Our appt. was this morning and turns out he has an ear infection! So a little medicine should perk him right back up!

He weighs 35 1/4 lbs and Sydney weighs 38 1/2 lbs! Sydney's still got a few pounds on Carter but he's trying to catch up!

Lazy night...

Just hanging out watching American Idol with popcorn and a sprite...doesn't get much better then that! :)

Well, this morning Carter seemed ok...no fever and he was running around playing with Sydney. So we planned to meet Grandaddy and Grandma at Chick-fil-a for lunch. As usual, seeing Grandaddy just made Carter's day! He cried when he walked away to order his lunch, so good ole' Grandaddy took Carter with him...in his highchair! That was too funny! Sydney wolfed her lunch down and was ready to play in about 5 minutes! They love the playground there!





After Carter's nap today, he had a temperture again. I think tomorrow we're going to the doctor...

getting sick??

whew...it was a rough day. Carter had a temperture this morning and seriously layed on me from the time he woke up until nap time! I gave him some Tylenol which perked him up a little but we sat on the couch and watched cartoons all morning (Sydney was loving it since I never let her watch them for that long!)

I think that's the first time Carter has ever watched tv for more then a few minutes. He's usually just not interested, which is fine with me! :)

After his nap he was hot again...took his temperture and it was 102.9!! Yikes! By this time, Kevin was home so he was on Carter duty for the rest of the day.

Hope tomorrow is better...

Today was such a nice day...Sydney and I hung around outside while Carter took his nap this afternoon. We started out by the pool. Kevin finished vaccuming it out today and I'm so ready to jump in! Only problem is, the water is FREEZING! Anyway, Sydney had fun dipping her toes in. She told Kevin, "I'm gonna have so much fun swimming in the pool!"





Then we were trimming the bushes in front of the house. Sydney was eager to "help" me (when I was ready for a break)! She got hot so she went and sat in the shade and called Emma over next to her. I'm glad my camera was close by...they were so cute!!





We had a pretty good little afternoon! :)

Can't leave him alone for a minute...

or he'll go in the drawer and get the sharpie. and draw. on his body. ughhhh.

I was running the water for a bath and Sydney was right by me but Carter had disappeared. I sent Sydney to track him down and she came back and said "Come look at him. He's got the pen out. And he's drawing on himself."

It was kinda funny though. At least the bathtub was ready for him ;)

A day at the Linn's

Today we went to Terri's house to hang out with Haisten and Judson. Sydney, Haisten and Carter always have a good time together! Judson likes to lay back and check out the action (for now!!) He's so cute...I had fun taking his picture! :)

walking in daddy's shoes...

Carter loves our closet. So does Sydney. It's something about the shoes. They are ALWAYS going in there and picking out a pair of shoes to wear. Sydney feels all fancy wearing my church shoes around (with heels) and Carter is so proud to be wearing Daddy's shoes.

So yesterday I was in the kitchen and I hear a CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK coming towards me. And I turn around and this is what I see...

Bike A Thon

Today Kevin and the RA's had the Bike A Thon at church for St. Jude. It turned out to be such a great day...the weather could not have been any better! We were so glad that it was a good turnout...there were 27 kids there! They rode for about an hour before we had a hot dog dinner then they took off again! Sydney was thrilled to be riding her bike and Carter even rode his trusty tractor around! We ended up raising $1100!! :)

It might as well have been her birthday...

Sydney could not have been more excited for grandaddy's birthday! She has been looking forward to it all week and today was finally the day! Part of the reason she was excited was because she found a present to give him...his own stuffed sheep! Grandaddy is always picking on Sydney by trying to take her beloved Lamb Chop away from her. Well, we found this cute little sheep for a dollar and couldn't pass it up. She said "If I give Grandaddy this stuffed sheep, then he'll leave Lamb Chop alone?" We all got a good laugh out of that!!

How did I miss these?

I was looking back through my pictures tonight and found these from last month! I totally looked over them the first time. He's not smiling in the first one but at least he's looking (1 for 2 ain't bad!) The second one just makes me smile! I had a hard time editing these...I'm still not 100% happy with them but it's late and I'm tired!

Funny things for me to remember...

Carter had another vocabulary explosion in the past month or so! He points out everything and says what it is: tractor, kitty cat, blanket, bear, Lambie (Sydney's lamb), truck, car, airplane, baby, paci...the list goes on! He's making a couple sentences too..."Daddy [at] work", "Where Nyd-ney [Sydney], "bye Emma".
The other day I was eating a chip and he said, "Chip peese" [please] and I gave him one and he said "Tank [thank] you!" At least he has some manners! ;)

Sydney has her fair share of funny comments too. She likes to say "Carter is such a baby!"
We were cooking dinner together the other night and I had her stirring something for me. I came up beside her and she was waving the air up from the bowl to her nose. I asked her what she was doing then remembered she saw that in Ratatouille! I asked her about it and she told me about that part of the movie then asked why he was doing that! Another time, I saw her at the kitchen table using her fork to comb her hair! Another movie scene...this time the Little Mermaid! I called her Ariel and she laughed and said, I'm not Ariel, I'm Sydney! She cracks me up! Maybe we should cut back on the movies ;)

Catching up...

These first two pictures were taken yesterday...I was so happy to see this yellow iris finally bloomed!

Carter just woke up from his nap and let me tell you he was running full speed down to the garden to go see daddy! I didn't have time to even look at the settings...just snapped this and was surprised it turned out at all!


Every time I get on the phone Sydney says "I wanna talk!!" So she was sitting there just chatting away and grinning from ear to ear. The funny thing is, she had been talking for a few minutes and then put the phone down, looked at me and said "Is this grandaddy?" and I nodded yes and she said "Oh, I thought it was daddy!" Silly girl! :)

First bike!

Sydney was quite proud of herself today...she rode a bike for the first time! I went to a few yard sales this morning and found, of all things, a Cinderella bike with training wheels! I'd been thinking about getting her one anyway and this one just had her name written all over it ;)

Sydney loves it...she calls it her "big tricycle" and actually did very good riding it around today. I've done a lot of walking this afternoon, just following her around. She's still figuring out the brakes...she knows how they work but sometimes forgets and tries to stop with her feet! Needless to say, the next purchase will be elbow pads and a little helmet!

We were playing outside this morning and I thought Sydney and Carter might have fun eating lunch outside for a change! :) So I fixed their lunch and spread out a quilt in the yard and we called it a picnic! Sydney just couldn't stop grinning and Carter is just happy to eat...no matter where he is :) ha ha!!

"Do you hear something?"



He was saying "fish" (goldfish crackers) :)


He put the rest of the crackers in his mouth and now he's signing the word "more"!
