Fun day for the kiddos...

Sydney has been telling us lately that she wants all of us to go see a movie together! Since it was a rainy, dreary day it sounded good to me!

We loaded up and headed to Chick-fil-a of all places for lunch...they squealed when we pulled in the parking lot! We pigged out then headed over to the trusty dollar movies to see Madagascar 2. Carter has never been to the movies so I was prepared to take him out at some point!

Sydney settled right in...this was right up her alley! Carter did fine too...he sat in a booster seat for a bit, then sat with me some. Towards the end he got a little fidgety, which we kind of expected. He's still young so I doubt we'll take him again for awhile, but I'm glad he went with us today :) The movie was very funny too...well worth the $4 we paid to see it!

more snow??

The "Weather Xperts" at WSET are predicting some snow tomorrow night. On the news he said 2-4 inches but if everything hits just right we could get 5-10" of snow. Kevin and I just busted out laughing...we haven't had that much snow in about 10 years! Everyone is probably lined up at the grocery store preparing for a blizzard right now!! I'll believe it when I see it. They are never right!

My prediction: an inch...maybe 2.

Here's the forecast:
Tonight the rain transitions to a sleet/snow mix as temperatures drop to near freezing. Light accumulations of ice/snow are possible. We'll see a break in the precipitation Sunday mid-morning, but more snow is likely by evening and into Monday morning (especially southeast sections). Total accumulations 2" - 4". Depending on the track of the storm, there could be much more. Next week starts cold and breezy, but becomes milder by late week.

Out-patient surgery...

Poor Lambie has had some leg issues recently. I spotted a small hole in one of his legs a few months ago. I'd been meaning to sew it up but never actually sat down to do it. So yesterday I picked him up and looked at him and he (or she??) had not 1 but 3 holes in his leg and a teeny tiny hole in his foot!!

So Lambie underwent surgery yesterday...Sydney was very nervous when I stuck that needle in his leg! She thought it might hurt him :) After he was all sewn up I threw him in the washer to clean him up again! Now he's good as new (well...almost!) I need to take a picture of him while he is fresh:)

puzzle workin' girl...

Sydney loves to work puzzles! She is at an in between stage where the 24 piece puzzles are very easy but the next size is 64 piece which is a little tricky for her. But she gets little sections at a time worked then I help her fit the whole thing together.
Here she is today working one after the other!

Carter has been eating like a hog lately. Well, ok, he usually eats like a hog but it seems like he's been asking for seconds a lot more these days. We usually just have to cut him off because his belly feels so full and tight!

For breakfast today, he ate a nutri-grain bar and a whole bowl of oatmeal and washed it down with a half a cup of OJ and half a cup of milk. Lunch was a whole peanut butter and banana sandwich, yogurt and a handful of grapes with chocolate milk. Dinner was a half a piece of chicken (creamy baked chicken) a side of broccoli with cheese and a glass of water. Then he wanted more so we gave him the other half of the chicken. So he eats pretty good, just a lot!

Kevin and I just knew he had to weigh more then Sydney so we pulled out the scales. He weighed in at 41 lbs so we called Sydney in for her weigh in...43 lbs for her! So she's got him beat for the time being. He'll catch up before long though!

we laughed so hard last night...

Sydney and I were reading in her bed last night and we laughed so hard at a book called "Dogs on the Bed". Even though Emma has her own dog bed now, it reminds me of the days when she (and Maxx) slept in the bed with us! Here's part of it:

Join us in a doggie-dancing rodeo!
Watch them hop to-and-fro-deo,
Vying for a spot on Daddy's pill-e-ow-
Daddy's gonna give 'em all the old heave-ho!

Now banished, they lie,
They pout and they sigh
And give us the eye-
These dogs, these dogs.

They go on the prowl
They bark and they growl,
Nights sounds make them howl-
These dogs, these dogs,

Now they're scratching at the door.
Mom lets them win.
Out they go, doggies grin.

Thirty seconds later they want right back in-
Mom's become the doorman of the In-out-Inn! (*this still happens!*)

Now back on the bed,
They shed on the spread
Their snores wake the dead (*maxx!!*)
Those doggone dogs.

They stick out their paws
And drool out their jaws
There outta be laws for dogs,
these dogs!

When we get too sleepy,
here's their sneaky plan:
Push us off if they can!

I didn't mean to type half the book out but it's just so true! It ends with this:

As portble heat
They just can't be beat
It's worth losing sheet
to dogs, these dogs!

"good wookin'..."

I snapped this as we were leaving for church on Sunday. Carter picked out a tie to wear so I told him to run and tell daddy that he was good lookin'! So he ran to Kevin and said "I'm good wookin!" We always joke around and say that Carter is preaching on the days he wears a tie!

Sydney was practicing writing her name last week. I walked over to see what she had done and found this:

She wrote her name twice...then wrote the mirror image of it on the other side of the paper! How talented (ha ha!!)

In other Carter news, he took a nap today without a diaper on! And no wet bed!! His diapers have been dry for awhile after naptime but today I was actually brave enough to skip it! Hope this keeps up!

stubborn...

I was going through my pictures from last month and found this:

When Maxx was visiting us I wanted to get a picture of him with Emma. So we trudged out one warm-ish day but those stubborn dogs wouldn't look at me for anything! Seriously, they would not even glance in my direction no matter was noise I made, name I called or treat I waved in their direction. So I took this. I guess they were protecting me...patrolling from both directions! :p

snow day!

yippee...we woke up this morning to some snow! As soon as I got up, I got Sydney and Carter's snow suits and boots ready to go! I figured the snow wouldn't stick around long so we had to get out early!!

This was about 7:15 this morning...the sky was so pretty!

Carter woke up about this time and we went and got Sydney up too! She hopped right out of bed when we told her there was snow on the ground :)

She plopped right down and made a snow angel!

Then it was time to hit the slopes! We used the trusty Smurf snow coasters that Julie and I had when we were kids. They are awesome!

We even walked way over in the field and went down the steep hill a few times. Sydney was laughing her head off! We all went down together, Carter and I in the front and I pulled Sydney right behind me. Walking back up was not as fun for them though!

Then Sydney wanted to make a snowman...she has asked me several times recently how you make the "circle" for a snowman. The snow wasn't very cooperative but we managed to make a mini snowman :)

He may be small but he's cute!

By this point we were freezing...we had been outside about 2 hours! We came in and warmed up a bit then went back out. The snow was already starting to melt! They rode the gator around awhile then we went in for lunch. By noon, the snow was disappering quick and now it's all gone :( But we had fun while it lasted!!

spring?

We got a taste of spring today...it was mid-60's today! It felt soooo good just to sit outside and let the sun shine on me :)

Grandma and Grandaddy stopped by for a bit this afternoon with a treat for the kiddos...a sundae from mcdonalds! They sat on the patio and scarfed them down then went to play!

Of course, the gator got some action today! As usual, there was a little bickering over who got to drive first. Once they get going though, they don't fight over it that much. They each drive for awhile then switch seats without much fuss. And I love how Sydney helps Carter out when he goes in reverse...she holds the gear shift down for him while he's going backwards! Teamwork!! ha ha!

it's been awhile...

another round of sickness has come and gone. Once again, Sydney avoided it somehow. That girl has a good immune system...

Just a couple things I want to remember:

Sydney and Carter were playing in the living room about a week ago and they were huddled up together looking at something. I overheard both of them talking... "Look, there he goes!" "Ha ha!" "Where's he going?" Then I heard Carter say, "He's going to church!" At this point I am wondering what in the heck they are talking about. So I walk over to them and they are following a stink bug around the living room. And apparently Carter thought he was going to church! Well he didn't make it...he ended up down the toilet!!

We were coming home from church yesterday and as we went by Perrowville road Carter started crying "Noooooo, I don't wanna go home!! I wanna go eat a burrito!!" (A few weeks ago, after church we went to the Mexican place by Food Lion for lunch.) Even at dinner that night, Carter was eating and he looked at me and said, "I want a burrito!" So, tonight is taco night!

Yesterday afternoon, Sydney was outside on the patio and I walked out there with her. "where's daddy?" I asked. She said "oh, he's down in the garage using his muscles!" (He was lifting weights) Ha ha!
