snow day, minus the snow...

School was closed today...guess the roads were bad because we had about .0001" of "snow" on the ground here!

We took a walk around the yard and the field this afternoon. It was in the 40's and felt pretty good. We found lots of deer tracks...Carter was following them around. He carried his gun too, in case we saw a deer or a bear. Always good to have a man around the house with you!





Carter decided to join us ;)

Snow day ???

Well this was an interesting day. It was supposed to rain this morning and then turn over to snow by this afternoon! They were calling for about 3-5" to fall by tonight. So we took Sydney to school, came home and Allie was soon ready for her nap.

Carter and I pulled out some blocks and made a road for his cars and trucks.


Then we had some fun with the webcam...

School ended up closing 2 hours early! Not long after Sydney got home it started snowing reeeally hard and fast! They were so excited!


But then it kinda sputtered out and rained/snowed the rest of the afternoon. We barely got a dusting...what a rip off!!! I was hoping for a decent snow. I give up...bring on spring!

Long time, no see!

Grandma and Grandaddy are back from their cruise to the southern Caribbean. What I wouldn't give for some warm temps, beautiful beaches and an 8 night cruise. But I digress. They came over to see Sydney, Carter and Allie (and me, I guess) this afternoon. They walked down and met Sydney when she got off the bus too...boy was she surprised! They had lots of catching up to do!

Eating sure is messy these days! Allie is somewhere between wanting to feed herself and needing to be spoon fed. It usually ends up a messy combination of the two! At least she seems happy about it!

Sydney started playing basketball this winter...she loves it! They have practice and a game every Saturday. They learn quick and it's fun to watch!

movie night!!

They love movie night! We get a movie, popcorn and sprite and hang out on the couch in the dark. Last night we watched Despicable Me...it was not my favorite but Sydney and Carter really liked it. Allie even stayed up for about half of this one...she crawled around on the floor by tv light ;) then sat with us until she got grumpy.

Allie's 9 month checkup was today! She was in such a good mood!



She was 19lbs 15oz...I looked at Carter's chart and he weighed 19lbs 10oz when he was 3 months old. That is CrAzY!!!

That's where her good mood ended. She did not enjoy him looking in her ears, eyes or down her diaper.

And she really hated the flu shot...but Carter held her hand which was cute.

Then she had to get her finger pricked to get her hemoglobin/lead checked. Whew! She was glad to get home and go back to bed ;)

busy day...

Sydney's half birthday is today...she is 6 1/2!! Since her birthday is during the summer, her teacher celebrates half birthday's at school. We sent in brownies for the class :) Sydney said she read the book "Sheep Out to Eat" to the class, then her teacher read "Sheep in a Jeep". Oh, and they sang Happy Half Birthday to you!! And of course, no birthday is complete without a crown!



Carter had slipper day at school today too! We went to WalMart the other day in search of the perfect pair ;) Carter had 3 pairs out on the floor, Batman, Spiderman and a really soft pair of red ones. He couldn't decide which one to get...he said, "I like them all, you pick!" I made him decide...he went with Batman! So he took his slippers to school today and they watched a movie and ate popcorn while wearing them!



Meanwhile, Allie rocked some leg warmers while we were at home today! They look so cute and make for easy diaper changes!





She loves pulling up on everything now...and leaving a path of destruction behind her!!

Out and about...

We had a giftcard for Waterstone so we met Kevin there tonight for dinner. We'd never been there and it's really good! Heard someone say one is coming to Forest...that would be nice!! Sydney and Carter liked it too!

something new to do...

Pulled this out of the basement today...this was Carter's little table. Basically anything you touch on it sings. Kept her entertained (and in one spot) for a few minutes anyway!!

On patrol...

Emma knows we don't like her to get on the back of the sofa. She rarely does it while we're home. But I know she hops up there when we are gone because she leaves her lovely dog hairs behind. But tonight she couldn't resist laying up there and patrolling the front of the house. Oh well, what's a few more dog hairs??? (ughhh)

It's a flying squirrell!!

We call Allie "squirrel" sometimes...I think it started because it rhymes with girl (squirrely girly). Tonight, she's a flying squirrel!

As if I didn't have enough questions to answer...

Sydney got a big book of questions out of the library to read...she has been asking all kinds of random questions like "Why do birds have feathers?" and "What is an instinct?" Lucky for me, the book has answers too!

Carter got a kick out of this tonight...he would go from side to side calling Allie's name. She, on the other hand, doesn't look too thrilled! ;)
