Zoo trip...

We decided to head down to the NC zoo last Friday...Kevin was off and the weather was supposed to be nice.

It takes about 3 hours to get there which wasn't too bad...Sydney watched a movie most of the way and Carter was on the lookout for any tractors or construction vehicles ;)

It was a pretty warm day but most of the walking is done in the shade...all the paths wind through the woods. I think their favorite animnals were the gorilla, bear, polar bear and monkeys! Carter was cracking us up too...he kept saying "zoot" instead of zoo! :)

At one point we stopped at a playground to take a little break. Sydney looked around and said "have we been here before??" We did go 2 years ago when Carter was about to turn 1 (she's got a good memory!)

We got home about 7:30 that night...it was a long day but a fun one!







I think we could have parked Carter here for the day! We laughed and said his favorite animal was the "CAT"

embarrassing...

Today was Sydney's preschool field trip to the park! She hopped out of bed as soon as I woke her up this morning :)

We got a note home from school saying to bring a bag lunch with disposable drink for the field trip. So as I'm fixing her lunch Sydney came in the kitchen and saw the paper bag on the counter.

What's that? she asked.
It's your lunch for the field trip.
She squawked...Well, that's embarrassing! I would never take that!
I told her it would be easier to just throw it away when she was done eating.
Well, nobody takes that to school!
I assured her that everyone would have a brown bag for their lunch and she just gave me a silly grin! (does the "picky-ness" really start this early???)

Anyway, it turned out to be a perfect day at the park. They ran around and played all morning! They finally took a break for lunch...before eating they said a blessing:




After that, Sydney and I went to Kindergarten registration! Orientation is in June and they get to see the classrooms and ride the school bus. She's gonna love that!

In the meantime, Carter spent the day with grandma and grandaddy. He was busy all day long! On the way home he fell asleep with a ring pop in his mouth! Sydney and I were laughing at him :)



Now we are all pooped and going to bed!!!!

"it's not so bad..."

Well, last night I had a bright idea! I thought I'd take down the side rail from Carter's bed. He'd taken a nap without it and didn't fall out of the bed and I figured he'd be ok. It's kind of annoying anyway.

Bad idea.

He fell out in the middle of the night.

So I put him back to bed, put the bed rail back up and went back to sleep.

This morning Carter wakes up and comes strolling in the kitchen with a big fat shiner!

CARTER...what happened to your eye???
I don't know.
Did you hit it when you fell out of the bed?!
ummmmmm.....
Let me show it to you...
I take him over to the mirror and he turns his head to look at his eye...he kinda grinned and said "it's not so bad!"

(I think he kinda likes it)




There's a metal bucket beside his bed with books in it...I guess that's what he hit when he fell last night. But he wasn't crying too bad and was fine once he got back in the bed.
It should look real good here in the next few days!

safety first...

A few weeks ago we got Carter some ear muffs to wear while he rides on the lawn mower...now, he's obsessed with them. I think it's partly because grandaddy wears them too ;)

I'm glad he likes them but everytime I turn around they are on his head! And I know they work because no matter what I say, he always replies "what"?

Arghhhh!

Then the other day he kept talking about his emails. "I gotta email...where's my email"? I could not for the life of me figure out how he knew what an email was or why he was talking about that!?

Then I realized he was talking about his earmuffs! Ha ha!

We had a great easter...the weather was beautiful! After church we spent the afternoon at grandma's where we ate dinner then had a little egg hunt for Sydney and Carter!

We had an easter egg hunt at church this morning...we found lots of candy and got to see the Easter bunny! Then we tie-dyed easter eggs...they loved it :)

sick chick...

Sydney was sick all weekend. I got to clean puke out of the car...not once, but twice! Good times! She's actually been really lucky...she hasn't been sick since last June when she had strep throat.
Here she is vegging out on the couch with a 103 temperature (but under the blanket because she's cold!)



Carter on the other hand got all decked out in his safety gear to help Kevin cut the grass! He doesn't look too excited but trust me, he has been looking forward to this day all winter :) (and so has Kevin!)
