Halloween Parade

Sydney's preschool had a Halloween parade on Thursday...all the classes marched around the parking lot then went inside to sing Halloween songs! For the past week or so she's been singing parts of different songs! It was really cute to watch...they all knew all the words and hand motions! :)

nerd alert!! (deal of the day)

So I admit I'm a CVS nerd. It all started with this trip. And there have been many more :) And since I was taking a picture of my birthday goodies, I thought I'd snap a picture of my latest purchase:

Dish detergent (I needed this) $6.49
Razors $5.89
Toothbrush $5.99
5 soyjoy bars (1 is missing...Carter polished it off! ha ha) $5

Total was $23.37
Used these coupons:
$1 for detergent
$2 for razors
$2 for toothbrush
$3 for soy joy
$10 extra bucks from last week

So I paid about $5.50 for all that...and I got back another $10 in extra bucks on my receipt ($4 for soyjoy, $2 for toothbrush & $4 for razors). That's my deal of the day ;)

some birthday goodies!

So Kevin let Sydney loose in the dollar store Saturday and she picked out some presents for my birthday (these are from Carter too). She was so proud that she found all these things for me and was just grinning from ear to ear :) It was very cute idea...she might get to do this more often!

Here's what I got:
a pair of socks
pink chewing gum
lotion
cinnamon apple candle (this smells really good!)
a brush
popcorn ;) (Sydney and I loooove popcorn!)
a shower pouf (whatever you call it)
TV guide crossword puzzle (Sydney wanted to get me a book but Kevin admitted he couldn't find anything good)

She actually did a pretty good job...these are all things I like! I might designate her as our family gift giver from now on!

We celebrated my birthday a little early...Kevin and Sydney went out Saturday morning to do a little shopping and brought home steak! We cooked that up Sunday afternoon and invited Mom and Dad and Mamaw to eat with us. Yummmmmm!

Sydney has decided all of a sudden that she can keep a secret! It seems like every time I get something for Kevin, ol' "motor mouth" spills the beans before he opens the present! But no matter what I say, she won't tell me what my present is!! No fair! Guess I'll find out tonight ;)

The cards I got this year are so funny! They crack me up :)

our Friday night...

We decided to go to La Caretta tonight...I had a mega craving for it! Apparently, Carter did too. He wolfed down handfuls of chips before our food got there. We went ahead and ordered a kids plate for him...a chicken burrito and rice. And he ate the whole thing!! I don't see how all that food fit in his stomach! We need to start saving for our grocery budget 5 years from now!

Then we hit up Barnes and Noble for free drinks (here) and as soon as we got there they had a kids storytime! So Sydney and Carter listened to that and made a little puppet. Then they headed to the train table to play...they really like that! We don't go there often and it was nice to do something a little different!

the pumpkin patch

Sunday afternoon we decided to head up to the pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful day and it actually felt like fall outside! Last year when we went it was about 80! "Grandma" got to go too and Sydney and Carter were so excited about that!

So we started off in the corn maize which was pretty neat...the corn was at least 8 feet tall! We got about halfway through it and decided it was time to move on to something else. I didn't want Sydney and Carter to wear themselves out too quick!!

Next up was the underground slide! Carter and I went down first...it was a ridged pipe and let me just say it was not easy on the backside ;) That was my first and only time down that thing! Then Kevin and Sydney went down...notice Kevin's face here. That says it all!
Photobucket

Of course they wanted to do it again so we sent them down solo. That was SOOOO funny!

And then they wanted to do it again! There goes Carter back up the hill!

After a few more times we moved on the cow train! It was a lawn mower pulling a line of cow cars. Sydney and Carter hopped right in and were ready to go! Carter had a change of heart though and decided he wanted out right before they took off...oh well!
Photobucket

After that, the tractor came back around for hay rides. We loaded up in the wagon and headed off to the field of pumpkins. Once we got there, Carter picked his out first thing!
Photobucket

Sydney had to carefully inspect each one to find the perfect pumpkin :)

The search continues...

This was taken when we got back...that's the field we were in. The leaves on the mountain were so colorful!

We did a few other things then decided to call it a day! Everyone was getting tired! It turned out to be a great afternoon :)

Field Trip!

Sydney's class took their first field trip today to the fire station! A lot of the parents went as well since we had to drive the kids there.

When they first got there, the firemen took the kids through the inside of the fire station. Next they saw an ambulance and took turns getting inside and looking around.

Then her class gathered around the fire truck while the firemen showed them the equipment they used. One of the fireman put his suit on to show the kids what he would really look like if he had to come into their house. Then everyone had a chance to get in the firetruck and look around!

All the kids did really good and everyone had a great time!

The moon looked really cool last night. It was low in the sky and looked absolutely HUGE!

I wanted to get the whole scene but the moon is just a big blob...

oops...

Hindsight is 20/20 so here we go...

We had a few minutes before preschool this morning so I painted Sydney's fingernails. *Mistake 1: Carter was watching* After I was done, I took Sydney in the bathroom to dry her nails with the blowdrier. *Mistake 2: Left the fingernail polish on my desk* Kevin was off today so he took her to school and Carter and I got to stay home =) Kevin came home and later that morning I heard him say "Carter, what have you done! *Mistake 3: Left Carter alone for a few minutes*

So Carter ended up with some lovely pink nails! Luckily, he only painted his hands and nothing else!

Sydney came home from preschool with an edible firetruck! I had to take these quick before she chomped into it!

Poker night...

Well, not really poker.
It's Memory.

Sydney is pretty good at that game. It must be nice to have a young fresh mind ;) After lunch on Sunday she challenged grandma to a game and won (several times) =) Then it was on the next competitor...Mamaw! Sydney got off to a good start...the first 2 cards she picked up matched!
Photobucket
It was a close one! I think they each won a game and called it a day!

I was going back through some pictures and saw these of Carter. I like his little scrunched up nose!!

Sydney's art project

Sydney made this today in preschool...she was quick to tell me that she wrote the 4 all by herself! Her class is taking a field trip to the fire department next week!
Photobucket

Sydney told me the pledge of allegiance for the first time today. She stopped twice and I told her the next word but other then that she knew the whole thing! She was the helper again today and got to hold the flag! She was pretty happy about that ;)

Carter's new motto

"Conserve Water...Drink Chocolate Milk"
