The other day Sydney and I were driving in the car and out of the blue she asks "Mama, how do they get holes in underwear?"
"What holes in underwear?" I ask.
"The holes for your legs...how do they get those holes? I bet they cut them with scissors!"
"Yep, they probably do" was all I could say without busting out laughing! I would hate to have that job...cutting leg holes in underwear with scissors!!
Silly girl!! :)

preach it brother!
Before bedtime tonight I heard Carter in Sydney's room yelling and hollering. I peeked in to see what was going on and saw this:

Carter was standing at the foot of Sydney's bed with her little Bible. He looked very serious as he flipped through the pages. Then he'd start "preaching" at the top of his lungs! It was very entertaining!

Finally....a haircut!! :)
Sydney's appointment for a haircut today couldn't get here in fast enough! She was getting very shaggy :) She got the works...a hot towel treatment on her face, lotion on her hands and a neck rub! She was grinning from ear to ear!
Here's a quick snap as we were leaving this morning...all I did was wash and dry her hair. It's so out of control! (the wind was blowing too which didn't help!)

And after...she got 2 inches cut off! This picture doesn't do it justice though...by this point it's been rained on and getting flat. She's also showing off the camel she found at goodwill today!

Kevin took Carter for a haircut today too! That was a pleasant surprise because Carter was getting shaggy too! He got the usual buzz cut with a spike! So cute =)

Preschool tidbits from today...
Sydney's show and tell at preschool went pretty well I guess. She decided to take Lucy, the dog she made at the Build A Bear in Myrtle Beach. We practiced what she would say about her but who knows what she actually said!!
Sydney was excited because she was the helper today and got to hold the flag for the pledge! And they also celebrated someone's birthday and ate cupcakes! They practiced writing the letter C and her art project was stamping with apples. That's about all she told me from today!

ouch!
Sydney and I were outside today planting some mums when she started crying and saying her face hurt. I didn't know what happened but a few minutes later her eye was swollen from what I'm guessing is a bee sting. owwww! So we iced it and it looks a little better now but she sure was puffy after it happened!

Sydney was full of stories today after preschool! She was most excited to have the show and tell bag! She has to take it back Thursday with something inside. She and her teacher will give the class clues to what it might be and they have to guess what she brought! Wonder what she'll want to take??

goofing around...
It was so nice to just stay home today and hang out. I feel like we've been so busy lately, it felt good not to have anywhere to go!
Sydney and Carter had fun riding around in their cars today on the patio. They were pretending to be at a drive through...pull up to the patio door, place an order and drive to Sydney's sliding door to pick it up =) I heard Sydney ask for a milkshake with ice cream!
Then they headed out to the playground and got on the glider. Which, of course, was not a glider but a tractor. And they mowed the grass. Then it was a train, then a car, then a plane! Whew...imaginations were on overdrive today!
After a wagon ride through the yard it was time for lunch. After we ate, they played with Carter's new tools. Carter thinks he's mr. tough guy wearing his tool belt...it holds his hammer, screwdriver, saw, pliers, tape measure and pipe wrench.
Took these tonight...they were being silly!

Growing like a weed!
Carter's 2 year checkup was today...here's his stats:
weight: 35 lbs 5 oz
height: 37 1/4"
20 3/4" head circum
As far as the percentiles go, he's above the 97% for everything. But I was really surprised to see that he's grown 3 3/4" since his last checkup on April 1st (5 months ago) He really is growing like a weed! And he only gained 1 pound! Guess he's just stretching up instead of out ;)
So Dr. M came in, looked at his height/weight then saw Carter sitting there in his little underwear. He laughed and said "are you sure this isn't his 3 year visit?!"
Everything looks great! Carter was due for 2 shots...one in the arm and one in the leg. Surprisingly, he didn't cry for either one...both times he just said "oww!" Then the nurse gave him a sticker, he gave her a high 5 and it was time to go! His next checkup is in a year!
I went back and read this today about Carter's 18 month checkup...interesting to see what has or hasn't changed: Carter's 18 month post
Checking out his bandaid:

Taking a break!

Oh and this is the card that Sydney made for Carter's birthday. She carefully wrote his name all by herself and then drew a little picture of him (with a spike)! Then on the inside she drew a few balloons, scribbled on the rest and said I'm all done!

Two!
Wow...my little man is two already! (According to him though, he's "daddy's man!")
I love being around Carter! He's so full of energy and is always doing or saying the silliest things! He loves being outside, riding his tricycle on the patio, playing on the swingset and splashing around in the pool. Right now his favorite toys are tractors, cars, playdoh, play telephones and anything of Sydney's ;)
He definitely is a daddy's boy! Wherever Kevin is, Carter is usually about 2 steps behind him :) They especially like riding around the yard on the lawn mower! Carter actually rode around with Kevin last night while he was mowing. Today he kept telling me "cut gas!! cut gas!!" I took him literally and thought he was talking about being stinky but then realized he was saying "cut the grass!" ha ha!
Just this year, I've noticed how much more Sydney and Carter play together! At one point, Carter would hang around Sydney a little, then go off and do his own thing. But lately they stick together pretty much all day keeping each other entertained! They love to take turns pushing each other around the house on Carter's monster dump truck! Then they disappear in the playroom and find something to play with! And if the radio's on in there they have fun dancing :) I always crack up when I hear him call her name..."Nyd-ney!"
Other Carter tidbits for me to remember:
* He loves to go riding down 221 to see all the construction vehicles/workers. He's back there counting them out loud and Sydney's yelling "look Carter, there's one over there and ohhhh here's another one coming up!!"
* Very observant and puts a lot of words together too. A few weeks ago before school started we drove by the high school and all the school buses which used to sit right by the road were gone. As we drove by Carter screamed "school bus all gone!" over and over!
* Favorite food is everything :) But at the top of the list is probably bananas, yogurt, mashed potatoes, chicken and burritos (he eats a whole one at La Caretta!)
* He's not a big tv watcher (unlike another child in our family...ha ha!). He can point out and name Dora, Diego and Spongebob (from Sydney) and Nemo and Dory from seeing that movie 100 times on the way to the beach. And that's about it. But that's fine with me :)
* If you ever ask Carter where something is, his answer is always "I dunnno!"
* A new answer he's been saying a lot lately is "YEP!"
* We are always fussing at him for going in the refrigerator and getting stuff out when we're not around. And if you're not quick enough, he'll eat it too! Just a few weeks ago I walked in the kitchen and found a 6 pack of yogurt on the floor! One of them had been opened and eaten! But if it's not food he's after he's pulling out the milk to make "chockey milk!" [chocolate milk] Or he's going in the pantry getting out "green bars" [nurtigrain bars] What can I say...the boy likes to eat! :)
* He likes us to spike his hair up in the morning...he's so proud of it!
* I guess it's safe to say he's (daytime) potty trained now! He wears his big boy undies every day now and so far so good!
I could go on and on! I just want to be able to remember all these little things that he does now :) He has grown up too fast on me! I've had fun looking back at his baby pictures...
In the hospital for Carter's 2nd induction!!
He and Sydney were actually born in the same delivery room :)

priceless
Tractor cake pan: $7.00
Cake mix & icing: $2.00
Digging into your birthday cake before your party...priceless!

Seriously, I think I had a mini stroke when I saw Carter attacking his cake this morning. I couldn't even form the words to fuss at him...and then Kevin came in the kitchen and he couldn't say anything either. We just kinda looked at each other for what seemed like a long time...I think he was waiting for me to blow a fuse!
So a little bit later, after the initial shock, I figured I might as well try to fix it...there was no way I was redoing the whole cake. And it really wasn't too bad. If Carter had been caught any later though, it's no telling what that cake would have looked like!
