our feathered friends...

So we have this little birdhouse that I would consider the slums :) It was here when we moved in...the roof is falling apart and it's in pretty bad shape. We were planning to take it down but darn if I didn't peek in a week or so ago and there were 5 little blue eggs laying there! Sydney kept asking if they had "cracked" yet and a few days ago they finally did! She loves peeping at them and just laughs when we tell her that the mama goes to get the babies worms and bugs to eat! She said she would never eat worms and bugs for dinner!
So here they are...they're so ugly they're cute!! :)

Last week, Sydney stayed with Grandaddy and Grandma after storytime and they brought her home later that afternoon. We started playing in the yard and Sydney wanted to hit the ball off the tee. Grandaddy was helping her run the bases and slide into home...she got a kick out of that! Carter was playing hard too and had to take a water break with Grandma!

Spring is here!

I love spring...warmer weather, flowers blooming and the smell of cut grass just makes me happy! :) This is one of the tulips that bloomed in our yard...they were so pretty but in a weird spot so I cut them and brought them inside!

This is such a cute little birdhouse!

I forgot what Sydney was laughing at but she had fun playing outside today!

missed one...

took this yesterday...Sydney was running zig zags through the yard looking for dandelions to blow! Such simple pleasures...

Photobucket

"woah baby!!"

Carter said that today! I just kinda looked at him like, you just said that?! and then busted out laughing and so did he! I keep asking him to say it again and he just laughs at me...little stinker!

Then I went to make lunch and Sydney came in the kitchen and said "look at Carter" so I peeked in the dining room and saw this:

What in the world?!? Yep...on the table. (And his face is so red because we had just come inside from playing)

He's such a boy!

not my idea! & a lazy dog

Sydney sure was proud to find this headband today and get it in her hair all by herself. Now if I had suggested she wear it though, that would be a totally differnt story!

Emma has such a hard life. She is usually found lounging somewhere around the house but I think her favorite thing to do is lay in the sun. This afternoon she was in our room by the door just panting because it was so hot! She finally moved a little while later and smiled for a few pictures! :)

this is trouble...

ohhh my goodness! I made this sheet cake today and I hope someone other than me eats most of it...it is so rich and chocolatey and absolutely melts in your mouth. I think it adds pounds by just looking at it so let's move on, shall we :)

a couple from today...

so I decided to take Sydney and Carter back to the little pond at Old City Cemetary today...it was so pretty last summer and I was hoping to get some pictures of them! I think we're gonna have to go back in the evening or on a cloudy day this summer because the sun is just soooo bright in the middle of the day! Anyway, I got a couple keepers...

On the way there Sydney was cracking me up with the things she was saying. At one point we were driving through the wooded part of Coffee Rd. and I noticed a woodpecker flying right out our window.
I said "look Sydney, do you see that woodpecker flying up there?"
"yes"
"it's probably looking for a good tree, huh?"
"yeah, it's gotta find a tree with a hole in it so he can start hammering...cause that's what they do!"
"yep, they do peck on trees, don't they!" ha ha!!

random things from today

Since Kevin was out of town we went over to the elementary school playground tonight. I was hoping to burn some energy off before bedtime :) They had never been there before so it was all new and exciting to them! It was perfect for Sydney but a little too big for Carter...there was no easy way for him to get up to the slide so I had to lift him up every.single.time! (ugh!) He loved every second of it though. Sydney ran from the playground to the swings to the monkey bars! She even got to where she could jump up and catch on to the bar and swing a little! We stayed about 45 minutes but Carter kept having close calls, so after the 3rd one we headed home!

Kevin called tonight and I put Carter on the phone and told him to say "Hi Dada" and he did it! He usually just repeats the first word of a sentence (except thank you and all gone). He's really picked up a lot more words lately...I went back to see what Sydney was doing when she was this age and it's about the same. Actually, so far Carter has done everything pretty much the same as Sydney did age wise.

Anyway, Sydney was super excited to wear her new princess gown tonight that Grandma got for her today! It even came with a magic wand and she kept singing "bippity boppity boo" :) Then she said she was gonna turn me and Carter into frogs..ha ha!

18 months...

Carter went to the doctor this week for his 18 month checkup. Here's his stats :)
34 lbs 3 oz
33 1/2" tall
20 1/2" head circum.

So in 3 months, he's gained 2 lbs, grown 3/4" and his head is 1/2" bigger! Dr. M. said he looked great and assured me that he would not grow up to be a big fat man ;)

Here's what Carter is up to these days:
*I've lost count of Carter's words...he pretty much repeats anything you ask him to say. Sometimes it's right and sometimes it's close ;)
*Nods his head yes and no to answer questions
*Loves to vaccum and sweep with the swiffer (I hope this continues...)
*When we get bananas at the grocery store, he says "NANA NANA NANA" until I give him one...recently, he even ate one while we were shopping and then another in the checkout line to avoid a major breakdown. At least they're good for him.
*Has an extra tooth between his front tooth and incisor.
*Wears 2t/3t shirts and 2t pants
*Knows some sign language: more, milk, all gone, bath, hurt, night night, eat & up. I think that's it. I haven't teached him many lately since he's learning to talk anyway but he uses milk and more a lot. We learn a new sign each week at storytime though so that's fun.
*Whenever music comes on the tv, Carter stops to listen then starts to dance! Cracks us up every time! He also likes to turn on the clock radio in our bedroom so he can dance to the music.
*I have to keep my bathroom door shut because he's always going in there to get my toothbrush. He likes brushing his teeth (with his own toothbrush).
*Screams "dada" or "daddy" when kevin gets home and runs to greet him!
*Knows all his body parts: head, hair, ear, eyes, nose, mouth, hands, fingers, belly, legs, feet.
*He loves to take a bath, do anything outside, hold a screwdriver, run laps through the kitchen, sit on Sydney's bed, wear daddy's shoes & eat!
*Favorite foods: most anything, especially nutri-grain bars, bananas, strawberries, grapes, goldfish crackers, any chicken (especially poppyseed chicken), mashed potatoes, spaghetti, beef stew.
*Not crazy about: broccoli, green beans, ummm...is that it?
*He's a mama's boy around me and daddy's boy around kevin.

His little personality has really come out since his birthday! He's very laid back and a lot of fun! He likes to be around us most of the time but then sometimes we'll find him in the playroom just playing on his own. He and Sydney also get along pretty good...at least once a day they will take turns pushing each other on the elmo ride-on toy.
Anyway, I just wanted to write this down so I don't forget. I can't believe he is a year and a half old! But this is a great age!

Happy Birthday!

Today was Kevin's 32nd birthday! Sydney was so excited to help make his cake! She picked out a funfetti cake mix and wanted to put a spider on it...she actually wanted to give him a spider as a present so I asked her where we could get one but she didn't know. So we settled for one on his cake instead ;)
Anyway, when he got home she said "ohhh follow me" and ran to get his birthday card that she made (which also had a spider on it)! He saw it and jumped back and acted scared of it and her little eyes just lit up...she loved it. I reminded her of the cake we made and she got all excited and said "follow me" and ran to the kitchen. By the time Kevin and I got in there, she had whipped the top of the cake pan and smeared all the frosting off of the side in the process. UGH! So part of the cake didn't have much frosting left so I put the birthday candles there instead. We joked that it would be funny to look back on this in a few years...
